Abstract

Glass fiber reinforced polymer composites are broadly used as a structural material for chairs, water pipe, shadow shelter and water tanks etc, because it has good corrosion resistance properties. The effect of different seasons of the year on the mechanical properties of fiber glass in the Bannu (KPK) Pakistan has been studied. The different mechanical properties such as tensile strength, bending properties were tested when the different specimens were exposed to outdoor conditions in sunlight at different time interval. It was seen that as the pollutant, uv radiation and sunlight increases than the mechanical properties of the fiber glass decreases. The relative humidity of the different seasons also effect on the mechanical properties. It was noted that with the increase of relative humidity (%RH) in the atmosphere during the exposure time the flexural strength, tensile strength and elasticity of fiber glass become lowered. This work is related with the effect of different environmental condition such as temperature, relative humidity, ultraviolet radiation and different pollutant on fiber glass to decrease its mechanical properties.
